Clinical Services
Wediko School-Based Program presents a flexible continuum of trauma-informed services to children and families that have experienced adversity and its aftermath of social, emotional, and learning difficulties. Wediko uses multidisciplinary and integrative approaches to meet diverse needs and works in strong partnership with families, schools, and agencies that make up the support system of an often marginalized or excluded population. Using a trauma-informed framework and a phased model of practice, Wediko clinicians engage with students to establish goals for work and build skills; using successes as stepping stones for healthier outcomes.
Wediko employs Master’s and Doctoral level clinicians. Clinicians and supervisors have extensive training in trauma and loss, expertise in school based mental health, and substantial experience working with multi-stressed family systems. Wediko uses a trauma-informed lens in our work with children. Wediko’s approach accounts for the complexity of our clients’ lives. Wediko clinicians draw from phase-oriented trauma therapy models including; Treating Problem Behaviors, a phase model of trauma-informed therapy from the Child Trauma Institute, Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency (ARC) framework as well as Flexibly Sequential Play Therapy. Wediko’s therapy model includes motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral strategies, self regulation techniques, play based and progressive exposure leading to trauma-resolution, and relapse prevention.
