Professional Training

Wediko New York Program provides instructional, didactic, and experiential training opportunities that nurture the professional development of school staff with a focus on cultural competency. Professional Development trainings provide up-to-date theory, research, and practical tools to build capacity for effectively meeting students’ needs. With the use of virtual trainer programs, similar to those offered by Langevin, trainers can give teachers the resources they require to provide the proper environment for their students.

Sample training topics include:

  • Social Emotional Learning
  • Building a Pro-Social Classroom
  • Managing Challenging Student Behavior
  • Bullying Prevention
  • Trauma-Sensitive Schools
  • Student and Family Engagement
  • Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

In addition to stand-alone trainings, professional development can also be seamlessly integrated into the school day through modeling, training, and consultation. Wediko’s Side by Side™ social skills groups follows a co-teaching model; empowering teachers with the skills and tools to build positive school climate, address challenging behaviors proactively, and spend more time teaching. Wediko also facilitates advisory groups, meetings with families, and workshops for parents.
