The agency has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
Established in 1934, Wediko Children’s Services brings hope to children and their families when facing life’s challenges. Whether it’s a sudden loss, sustained adversity, or ingrained challenge to learning, Wediko’s continuum of mental health and therapeutic programs help children build skills, develop mastery, and make positive connections for happier and healthier lives.
“Children who need extra support do better when that need is identified early and addressed effectively. Wediko works with schools and families to do exactly that”, said Michael Clontz, Director of Boston Programs and Interim Executive Director of Wediko.
“In Boston, Wediko provides, in addition to individual and family therapy, program and school consultation to build supportive learning communities so that all students have what they need to succeed, despite experiences with trauma, grief and loss, and barriers to school success. We screen students in New York for trauma and adverse childhood experiences so that we can proactively offer support, knowing the impact these experiences can have in the immediate and on long-term outcomes. In New Hampshire, we provide residential care to students from across the country who face incredible challenges – so that they can return to their families, schools, and communities healthier and happier,” said Michael Clontz.
Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
Wediko believes every child is capable of achieving social, emotional, and academic success. Your gift provides children with the opportunity to have fun, learn, make friends, and feel safe. Together, we join with families, schools, and the community to help children live happier, healthier lives. To support Wediko Children’s Services on #GivingTuesday please visit www.wediko.org/give
