FAQs about School-Based Services

1) How can I get Wediko services started in a school?

Call and speak to a School-Based Program administrator and let him/her know about what services you are looking for.  Usually, a time will be set up to further discuss your needs and ways in which Wediko believes it can address those needs.

2) Does Wediko provide out-patient, clinic-based services?

Wediko does not bill insurance nor does it have a clinic.  Our belief in collaboration with schools and families means that our main focus is providing clinical services that are integrated into the children's daily lives at school and at home.

3) Does Wediko go to children's homes to provide therapy?

Wediko therapists provide almost all of the clinical services in schools or in the Wediko office (South End, Boston).

4) How do I sign a student up for Wediko therapy?

If the student is in a school that contracts with Wediko for clinical services, the student’s guidance advisor or the school administrator will be able to make a referral for therapy for your student.

5) Does Wediko take insurance for therapy services?

No, Wediko does not take any insurance.  The school or school system funds Wediko’s school-based services.

6) If I need help in the evening or on weekends, how can I get in touch with the Wediko therapist?

By calling Wediko’s main number (617 292-9200), you will be able to speak to someone at an answering service.  The operator will contact a Wediko clinician, who will call you back.

7) Why do Wediko therapists share information with the parents and school staff?

Wediko believes that a team approach is the best way to help students to achieve success in school, in social settings, and in their family.  Wediko clinicians contact family members, school staff, and other providers on a regular basis.

8) What are the qualifications of the therapists?

Almost all of the therapists have at least a master's degree in social work or psychology, and many hold a doctorate.  Wediko hosts a small number of highly qualified graduate students, who must make a two-year commitment to the program.
