Living With Loss
Grief Counseling and Support Program
Living with Loss supports children, teens, and their families who have experienced loss due to any number of circumstances, including death, incarceration, divorce, abandonment, foster care and adoption, and trauma. Living with Loss offers families an opportunity to share their stories, explore their feelings, and develop coping skills in the face of loss. In addition to peer and family support groups, Living with Loss provides education and professional development in grief and trauma-informed care, program consultation, short-term crisis management, and individual and family therapy.
Age-based peer support groups foster a sense of community and connection. Office-based groups offer concurrent support groups for caregivers. Group activities and discussions support understanding and growth around loss to help participants live with loss. Over the course of eight group sessions, trained group leaders (Wediko clinicians) incorporate art, play, poetry and other creative methods of exploring feelings associated with loss to develop coping strategies and skills. Family groups take place in the evenings at the Wediko office.
School-based groups are also available as part of Wediko’s School-Based Program in Metro Boston and New York City. Interested schools should inquire below.
