Wediko selected as an official charity of the Boston Marathon®
Wediko Children’s Services is proud to announce that we have been selected by the Boston Athletic Association to be one of its official charities participating in the 114th B.A.A. Boston Marathon® on April 19, 2010. As an official charity, Wediko receives 15 marathon numbers for runners who are interested in running the Boston Marathon and raising money for Wediko.
Wediko is also looking for qualified runners interested in raising money and benefitting from our marathon program. Please contact George Zahka (gzahka@wediko.org) for more information.
Wediko is currently accepting applications to become a member of the Wediko Marathon Team. To be considered for selection to the 2010 Wediko Marathon Team, you must complete an application. All application materials, including Terms and Conditions and the $25 application fee, must be post-marked by October 31, 2009. Click here to print out the application.

Benefits of being a member of the Wediko Marathon Team:
- Guaranteed race number for the 2010 Boston Marathon on April 19, 2010
- Connect with at least 14 other team members who are committed to training for a marathon and raising money to support Wediko
- Receive coaching and fundraising support from Kate Patton Regal of Wediko who has run Boston 12 times and raised over $125,000 for charity
- For team members in the Boston area, there will be regularly scheduled team training runs
- Fundraising handbook produced by Wediko with lots of strategies to assist you in raising money
- Wediko Marathon Team running singlet, pre-race pasta dinner, post-marathon party and other surprises
- Frequent support from Wediko coaches and other team members on training and fundraising concerns at our Wediko Marathon Team Facebook page
Responsibilities of being a member of the Wediko Marathon Team:

Raise a minimum of $3,250 to support Wediko Children’s Services ($750 for qualified runners)

Be physically able to complete the marathon in under 6 hours

If you are local to Boston, attend a couple of Wediko Marathon Team meetings between November 2009 and April 2010

$250 B.A.A. race application fee that does not count towards your fundraising total

Wediko Children's Services is a non-profit organization committed to improving children's lives by capturing success and restoring a sense of competence and hope. Using a strength-based approach, Wediko responds to the needs of children who face repeated obstacles to development due to emotional, behavioral, environmental, and learning issues.Our school-based services include clinical and program consultation to teachers and school administrators, direct clinical services to students and families, and trainings and workshops for parents and teachers. Wediko's School-Based Services reaches over 1300 children and families each year.
All money raised will go toward this important work.
